Lara is dedicated to maintaining a broad practice. She has extensive litigation and advocacy experience, and regularly appears unled in state and federal courts and tribunals.

Before joining the private bar, Lara was a Senior Crown Prosecutor at the Queensland Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and a Principal Legal Officer at the Commission of Inquiry into Queensland Police Service responses to domestic and family violence.

Lara is a member of the Legal Aid Queensland Complex Criminal Case Barrister Panel. She is also a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Queensland and the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland.

Lara is a sessional academic at the Queensland University of Technology.
