Matthew has a broad commercial and civil practice, with particular emphasis upon corporate and commercial litigation, regulatory and administrative cases. He is regularly briefed by various Commonwealth entities, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Matthew has considerable experience in conducting large and complex cases, including civil penalty and regulatory proceedings in both the Federal and State Courts and Tribunals. He is experienced in both trial and appellate work.
In 2022, Matthew was appointed a non-resident Justice of the Supreme Court of Nauru where he continues to sit part-time and hear appeals from he local Refugee Status Review Tribunal.
Matthew has taught advocacy and delivered continuing legal education courses to the professions in Queensland as well as Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Nauru.
